"Mr. Harris, I know this is long; please except this any way you wish.
I am still "Over the moon" regarding my very first trip to the South! I have not stopped telling anyone, how I appreciated the thoroughness in which you covered the Civil Rights trail through Atlanta, Birmingham, Montgomery, Selma, Memphis, and Little Rock. And then backing up the sights with movies and tours guided by those who have "walked the walk" in that city.
Scenes I will not soon forget: the faces of 4 little girls on the back wall of the Baptist church in Birmingham; the image of Elizabeth Eckford walking alone through a snarling mob looking for a friendly face as she walked towards Little Rock's Central High School; the signs, "Colored" "White" throughout GA, AL, TN, and ARK; and hearing a little girl ask her Mom, "..what does 'colored' water look like?"; and most heart breaking, besides the gruesome murder of Emmitt Till, The Legacy Museum and next to it, The National Memorial for Peace and Justice, which showed that even northern states like my home state, MN, was not exempt from racism, a lynching in 1920. And Soo much more! But, of course, there were lighter moments, when we could groove on the dance floor at the Stax Museum of American Soul Music! All in all, it was a memorable trip that I recommend to my children, grandchildren, and all Americans that have benefitted from this trail of tears.
A big Thank You to Irving Harris (and your Big Book)!"
"Hi Mr. Irving,
Just wanted to let you know that my husband Tony and I really enjoyed traveling with you on the “SOUTHERN HERITAGE TOUR & CIVIL RIGHTS EXPERIENCE 2018”
ATLANTA – TUSKEGEE – BIRMINGHAM – SELMA – MONTGOMERY - MEMPHIS – LITTLE ROCK
Thanks much for your professionalism and ability to keep the group in order and on time from State to State as well as sharing your wealth of knowledge during our travels. I must also commend you on your selection of tour guides for each State that we visited. Each one sharing their vast knowledge of their States and all the time making sure to keep us engaged in the conversation so that there was never a dull moment. You, the hotels, the restaurants and all of the tours were outstanding!!! It was a trip that I will always remember J."
"My recent trip to many of the historical landmarks and locales associated with the U.S. Civil Rights Movement of the 20th Century, was awesome, educational, informative, inspiring and powerful. I enjoyed it immensely and am grateful to Pro-Tran Unique Tours."
"Irving hope this e-mail finds you well, I'm sure you know I am still talking about the impact the trip had on both my husband and I.
Not going to take up a whole lot of time, just wanted to be sure you knew that trip was on my bucket list for years and carrying it out with such a great coordinator and good group of people made it all the better.
I would not change anything about the trip, every site we visited was more than I had anticipated, I have told everyone that knows me and some folks that don't about the experience. Walking into the Ebenezer Baptist Church and the 16th Street Baptist Church is something I will never forget. The walk across the Edmund Pettus Bridge is another story, I have already framed my photo and certificate. I'm not going to get on my soap box about the Civil Rights Museum in Memphis because I will never end this e-mail, best vacation every!!!!!
The trip was just awesome, very well put together, from the movies during the bus ride to the tour guides that walked us through history. It was a life time experience that I will never forget. We will encourage every person that we know who have not had the opportunity to take this historic trip to put it on their list of important things to do.
Returning to work after a two week vacation with a changed attitude, not much to complain about after being up close and personal with the struggle our ancestors lived on a daily basis to get us to where we are today.
Thanks for a great vacation. "
"Hi Irving,
We just wanted to tell you how much we enjoyed our Civil Rights Tour largely due to your guidance and contacts in the states we visited, Georgia, Arkansas Tennessee and Alabama. We enjoy a lot of information and black historical sites in every state and thoroughly enjoyed the restaurant choices and the guides in each state.
The guides really added a good touch to our understanding the museums better and the events that took place at that time as some of them actually participated in the events. One of the things we really liked was the amount of time we spent at each place, which was about 1 1/2 hour just enough time to see everything without rushing or waiting around a long time for the next museum. I would recommend this trip to everyone especially with you as the tour guide.
We eagerly look forward to the next trip."
"Hi Irving,
I just wanted to give additional feedback on the Sep. 24 - Oct. 1, 2018, Civil Rights Tour.
Overall, it was a fantastic trip made so by: a wonderful bus driver, excellent accommodations that included scrumptious breakfasts; knowledgeable tour guides; great historical venues offering so much rich history and nice restaurants/entertainment. The videos brought aboard added so much context to the theme of the trip.
Irving, you did an awesome job coordinating it all!"
